Changing lives since 2015…
I have tried many different programs, classes, and gyms over the years -- and I can safely say that my time at Prepare for Performance is the most fun I've ever had in the gym.
Making strength training a habit is something I've wanted to do for a long time, but I have struggled to find my groove with it. (We all read about how important it is -- especially for women in their 40s and up.) I was having a hard time maintaining consistency with at-home video workouts, app-subscription programs for gym/home workouts, and large classes. I realized I needed to try something different.
Prepare for Performance takes the guesswork out of integrating strength training into my busy life. The workouts are thoughtfully and efficiently designed, modifiable to fit my body, and varied (never boring!). The small group training format brings the best of both worlds -- you get individualized attention from expert coaches *and* you feel an incredible sense of community working out with others. This is a truly welcoming and unique gym, and I am so grateful to have found it.
I am probably the oldest person coming to the gym, so this review will be of particular interest to other people over 55.
I have been coming to this gym for about 6 months. I started by doing personal training three times a week and now do personal training just once a week and small group training twice a week. This combination is very good for me as it enables me to stay strong enough to participate in the (less-expensive) group training.
My trainer gives me a great workout while being mindful of my limitations. Like a certain insurance company, he customizes my workouts so I only pay for what I can do.
For me, it’s less about getting results and more about the good health habits that I have now developed by coming to this gym regularly. This is not a gym where they just collect your money and send you on your way; this is a gym that provides ongoing support and encouragement via emails, coaching offers to help you with any challenge, and even a Facebook group.
Strength training is all they do, and they do it well, whether you are a young athlete or an older person like me looking to get reasonably fit and strong. There are a variety of class times that you can choose from every week. I highly recommend this gym. - Katharine Minker (5 stars *****)
I signed up for Prepare for Performance six months ago to help me stay in shape as a military reservist. The program is so well thought out to include functional and mobility training alongside traditional strength training and cardio. The trainers are incredibly attentive and knowledgeable, helping correct form and offer modifications as needed. The gym atmosphere is so pleasant with everyone supporting everyone no matter their level. I have no doubt that PFP will help me maximize my next fitness test, and keep me healthy while doing so. - Margo
I’ve been going to Prepare for Performance for 6 months and I can safely say it was the best decision I made in 2022. Over the course of the last 6 months I have lost 35lbs, countless inches, and more than 2 dress sizes. My body composition is changing and I give them all the credit. My off-the scale victories have been just as great having more motivation, energy, and a more positive mindset.
Working with Christian the last 6 months has been a great experience. I came to the gym out of shape, very inflexible, I struggled to do most workouts and I genuinely did not want to be there. Christian has been patience, kind, encouraging and supportive throughout this journey. His ability to push and motivate me has built my confidence at the gym and every week I can see small positive changes and gains that have been accumulating into bigger wins. Most importantly I now look forward to gym days and dislike rest days!
From day one Julian, the owner, has been very supportive and easy to work with. He helped me come up with goals and a plan of action to achieve those goals. Any health, food, fitness question or concern I’ve had, has been addressed promptly with ease and lots of knowledge. It is apparent he loves what he does and loves to see his clients succeed. You are in no better hands on your fitness and health journey than with PFP. You will not regret working with Julian and Christian and the rest of his staff! - Stacey

Hi my name is Nik Avillo, I have been training with Prepare for Performance since December 2021. My hip injury has been bothering me since November, but Prepare for Performance helped me to resolve it. I no longer had the injury after working with PFP for only a short time. Moreover, I was able to increase my flexibility and agility. As a result, I became stronger, my balance improved, and I was motivated to do more. If you are an athlete, I highly recommend PFP. Each workout focuses on more than just one way of improving yourself, which means they are able to help you no matter the goal you have. All the trainers at the facility are personable and motivating. They provide you with a lot of attention and prioritize techniques.
